"Touché, Pussy Cat!," - Tuffy

"Touché, Pussy Cat!," 1954 is a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer animated Tom and Jerry short that was directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. It was produced by Fred Quimby, music by Scott Bradley, animated by Kenneth Muse, Ed Barge and Irven Spence, and with backgrounds by Robert Gentle. It was the first of the Tom and Jerry shorts to be produced in widescreen CinemaScope format. The film was nominated for
an Academy Award in 1954, the last of the Tom and Jerry series to receive an Oscar nomination. The short is a follow-up to the 1952 cartoon "The Two Mouseketeers," which had won the 1951 Academy Award. The title of the film is a reference to Tuffy's catchphrase in the "Mouseketeer" series; which later included "Tom and Chérie," 1955 and "Royal Cat Nap" in 1958.

The story of the short is that Tuffy is sent to Jerry to become a mouseketter. Unfortunately he is terrible, and so he is forced to return home. On the way, he gets into a fight with Tom who drowns him in wine; making Tuffy a mouseketeer. However Tuffy accidentally stabs Jerry in the rear with his sword, causing Jerry to become angry. Jerry puts Tuffy over his lap, takes off his diaper, and starts spanking him. Tuffy turns to the audience and remarks, "C'est la guerre!" ("That's war!").

This is a wonderful setup including hand painted and hand inked production animation cels of all three main characters Tom, Jerry, and Tuffy; set on an original hand painted master production background from the Academy Award nominated MGM animated film short "Touché, Pussy Cat!," 1954. Just a great piece of animation artwork and a beautiful setup that is perfect for any collection!
